KhunKorn Waterfall
Khun Korn Waterfall is around 30 kilometres outside Chiang Rai city, depending on which route you take. The easiest is to just head south out of town to the White Tempe (AKA Wat Rong Khun) and turn right onto route 1208. From here the waterfall is signposted in English and it's not hard to find. The drive takes about 30-45 minutes.
From the small car parking area, the falls are a 1,400 metre hike through the mountains along a well defined pathway. You'll need to be fit but you certainly won't need any special gear to get there. Actually, the walk through the tropical forest is as much of a pleasure as seeing the waterfall itself. Huge bamboo forests, butterflies, flowers... the walk really is a delight.
This waterfall is by far the highest in Chiang Rai (and most well known) at 70 metres height and when you emerge from the trees to see the actual fall, it's quite impressive. Bathing is allowed and you should expect to get wet, as the fall creates a lot of spray.
If you turn up at the weekend, you may be disappointed to find quite a few people here. It's also unfortunate that not everyone is responsible enough to take their rubbish home with them and when we last visited, there was a pile of plastic bottles and polystyrene trays waiting to be collected. Having said that, a lot of people visit here on Sundays and some evidence of human presence is bound to be left behind.
Hint: Go on a weekday, or early in the morning to have the place to yourself.
There are so many waterfalls in thiland and I think Khunkorn waterfall is another one of intresting tourist attractions. You can get full of natural atmostpherer from Khunkorn waterfall. There are plenty of trees along the path.So you will feel fresh when you were walking through the way.I am sure that if you have a chance to go to Khunkorn waterfall just once, you will never forget it. I recomend. :)
